These are just for apostates, right? IOW, they were once Muslims?

I nominate Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who appears on the road to American citizenship and says she's a libertarian. So she's an apostate on several counts.

She also has a security detail and on-goiong threats against her.

Brigitte Gabriel. She's done some serious smackdown of the MSM in their attempt to whitewash the Ft. Hood massacre.

OK - this is thinking 'outside the box' just a little bit....

...but - I think he has done a lot of good anti-censorship work, and I still think back to when he went and called the 'boy-sock-puppet' on his lie when he referred to Oriana Fallaci a right-wing extremist and a fascist....

Therefore, I do nominate Steve Paikin!

And, I also nominate Lowell Green, Tarek Fatah and Walker Morrow. (sort of 'The One Who Was, The One Who Is, and The One Who Will Be - a B5 reference....)

I mainly follow (it's a choice, and a suggestion):

Former Muslims United (personally: Nonie Darwish, Amil Imani, Wafa Sultan, ...) - at FormerMuslimsUnited.com -.

Interesting:

Tawfik Hamid - at NewsMax.com -.

Quite hard:

Alrassooli - at al-rassooli.com -.

Apostate is the keyword here. These are key people. I nominate Wafa Sultan and Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

According to the Islamic scholars, we are all born as Muslims!

If we worship another religion (or no religion), we have all committed apostasy.

That is why, when a non-Muslim converts to Islam, he or she is said to 'return' to his or her 'natural state': a Muslim.

If you are not a Muslim, you are an apostate - by definition.

Though, I see what you were doing here with the category.....my apologies. I just want to explain that I have not completely taken leave of my senses - rather, I took the label a little too literally! (I do that a lot...)

Please, move my nominations into their appropriate categories.

Bosch Fawstin get my vote on
this one!

Would Winston, of The Spirit of Man, qualify? (I don't know his religious background.)

He continues to have excellent coverage of events in Iran.

Of course Ayaan Hirsi Ali jumps to mind, but what has she done THIS YEAR? any links or articles, anyone?

And i would also agree that surely apostate must refer to those who were muslims but reject the faith, right?? so, robert spencer, et. al would not qualify for this category.

Anon--

I saw excerpts of a speech of Hirsi Ali's a few weeks ago. Don't forget the insidious nature of the MSM...yesterday's "star" is so...so yesterday.

She has written a book, which will be coming out in February, she makes speeches where it's safe to do so, and she's studying for her American citizenship. She's still a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. Acc. to an interview with her in an LA paper, she has moved from the socialism of her time as a parliamentarian in the Netherlands to considering herself a "libertarian". Her word. Guess that comes from hanging out at the AEI.

Is she perfect? No. Who is. But she's on track and she's proven herself. On her website, she discusses FGM, but she's not actually advocating any kind of organized help for them. I doubt she would given that she wished to become an American citizen and our bureaucracy is full of Muslim Brotherhood jobs and appointments, infiltrating deeply and thoroughly.
